Every single desktop or notebook or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software that interacts with the computer hardware, including peripherals such as a mouse and a printer, along with any applications that are currently installed on your system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a web server, every single app runs within the parameters defined by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software such as a media server. In case a virtual server is set up on a physical one, there can be two independent Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our VPS servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are among the most stable and reliable OSs you can find and we provide all three rather than only one as we realize that you might want to install some software that has specific requirements for the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is because each of the three Operating Systems has a vast support community behind it and there are different software applications you may install on the hosting server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you want to use one and because of this we offer multiple Control Panels too. In the event you decide that you need to have some other OS, our tech support can quickly wipe the existing one and install the one that you would like. In addition, we offer an optional service to keep the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

We offer three Operating Systems with our dedicated server plans - CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian. They're all different Linux distributions and we offer them not only because they're completely free and they won't increase the price of your new hosting server, but also because they are really secure and stable. Each one of them is supported by a vast community of web developers, so you'll be given the option to choose from countless software packages that you can install on your server in case the app that you would like to use has certain requirements. The Operating System will also determine what web hosting Control Panel you can use because the Control Panels that we offer run on specific OSs only and since we want to provide you with as much versatility as possible, we offer several OSs and multiple Control Panels. In case you get a server with a certain OS, we can change it upon request in case it turns out that you'll need another one. We could also keep the OS updated on a weekly basis as part of our useful Managed Services upgrade.
